It is hard to believe that our fall soccer season has already come and gone! I can say with the utmost certainty that we experienced the worst weather our program has yet to experience in a season. Despite Mother Nature’s best efforts to keep us off the fields, our players and coaches persevered. Our program experienced many successes and we hope that our players both had fun and further developed their skills and passion for soccer.

Our season would not be possible without all of the parent volunteers who diligently work behind the scenes making all of this possible. They do it because they care about this community. Along with our board members, we have over 100 volunteers that help make our program run. We thank each of you for your contributions! In addition, we would like to thank all of the coaches for their effort, expertise, and patience. Lastly, I would like to thank our co-directors of coaching, Luke Green and Dan Clarke, for the countless hours that they put into the program, not only on the field, but off the field as well. Their passion, energy and enthusiasm is admirable and I am so grateful to work with them and that they have chosen to bring their efforts to New Canaan.
With winter upon us, there are many excellent opportunities to have your player keep a touch on the ball. For a complete listing of all winter programs and opportunities, please see our website.
We look forward to seeing you on the fields in the spring! 2019 Program Details will be released during the first half of December.
Winter Soccer is COMING! New Canaan FC Board is pleased to offer a number of great soccer options this Winter and hope our players will take advantage of at least one of these opportunities!
The Winter months offer players the ideal opportunity to continually develop their skills during the off-season. New Canaan FC programs support our players’ development with the additional hour or two of contact time with the ball, which over the next 20 weeks can make a huge difference to the level your players can achieve!

Why Futsal? Research indicates that individual’s playing Futsal receive the ball six times more often than they would do when they are playing 11-a-side football, allowing players to perform more individual techniques such as passes, controls, fakes, feints, dribbles and runs with the ball.
Is it good for development? Confidence on the ball, receiving a pass under pressure, decision-making in 1v1 situations, and ball retention are all important fundamental skills that we look to develop in young football players that are practiced regularly within a game environment in Futsal.
All Futsal classes are a 1-hour session which will run over 12 weeks. Classes will involve a short warm-up, technical practices followed by 5v5 futsal games.

We are excited to announce that we will be continuing with our NC Winter Team Training Program with new exciting changes!! Bringing some Winter Training to the Turf Fields at New Canaan High School.
There are TWO ways to participate:
COMPLETE TEAM - Have your Team Manager poll your team and with 10+ committed players reserve your timeslot with an Appointed New Canaan FC Coach through email@example.com
POOL PLAY - Sign up for a timeslot below and join your Age / Gender Pool of Players for practices:
> 2011- 2008 Boys & Girls 4:15-5:30PM>2007-2004 Boys & Girls 5:30-6:45PM
The program this year will provide us with 2 options:
> Practice only player $250 - 1 practice per week with age group > Practice & League play $550
Practices will be held on Water Tower Turf throughout the winter season.
The program will be scheduled for 12 weeks long and will be scheduled to complete at least 8 out of the 12 practices, due to expected weather closures of turf field. Extended periods of snow may nictitate a switch to alternative indoor venues where possible.
Our weather protocol will not permit practices to begin with temperatures lower than 40 degrees. Temperatures consistent with regular season practices and games during the Fall 2018 Season.
A similar program model has been utilized by other soccer programs previously with success.
Colder weather can be managed with players wearing appropriate clothing - hats, gloves, and base layers/under armor.
Players will be consistently moving and coaches will be informed to have no long breaks/pauses.
Due to the outdoor training during the winter months, we will follow strict and widely accepted weather protocol to ensure players health and safety. We expect to host a minimum of 8 sessions, reflected in the pricing, due to weather conditions. Should it be necessary we will offer alternate sessions to complete the full amount of practice opportunities.
Dates: Friday November 30, Dec 7,14, January 4,11,18,25, February 1,8,15 March 1,8,15 (minimum of 8)
